Connections. As simple as it sounds, it is the one thing that has been keeping me awake at night.
Connections between foster parents and other foster parents, birth parents, and resources. Connections between kids in foster care to their siblings, community members, birth families, foster/adoptive parents, and resources. Connections between birth parents to supports and partners willing to advocate and believe healing in their story is possible. Connections in all the stories related to foster care-none of us hold the answers in our own stories alone. It is in the collaborative story that the full picture can be seen. There has to be a place to join forces by pulling all of our experiences together to make connection possible. Below is a link to the video that has recently influenced my thoughts. We will continue to work to build collaboration and connection.
