Question: Who tracks kids after they age out of foster care?

 

In Arizona, a young adult can stay in the foster care system until they are 21 but, only a small percentage of young adults choose to go that route. Once a child ages out of foster care, they do continue to receive some financial support from the state that continues to decrease over time. Once they do choose to leave the system or age out, they are no longer tracked. Lack of known resources and personal supports leave these young adults facing unique challenges not experienced by their peers.
