Question: What are you most excited about in the world of foster care?

There is so much to be excited and hopeful about, but probably the thing I am most excited about is the way the community is joining hands and making efforts to help on behalf of Arizona’s children. There is real collaboration taking place between the courts and government agencies. There is a shift of thought and in action to better assist birth parents; educating them on the system, connecting them with resources and peer support, and ultimately, working to empower them to create needed change in their lives to support reunification. Prevention is becoming a forefront of many conversations along with the push to treat drug abuse and mental health issues as an illness instead of looking down on those who are suffering. Critical conversations are taking place on what is not working and the possibilities of what could be.

There is a lot of work to do, but there are a lot of hands willing to help. If you have been wanting to get involved in creating positive change, there is no better time than right now.
