Meet Our Team: Ashley

Ashley connected with Foster Arizona back in 2015 and has become a driving force in our Kid Connection Events since stepping onto our lead team in 2016. Ashley has held key marketing positions with Meredith Corp., Arizona Science Center, and Kohl’s Department Stores and was selected as a part of Phoenix Business Journal’s 40 under 40 for 2017. Ashley has a big heart for kids and continues to use her talents, experiences, and passion to bring positive change to the lives of kids in Arizona’s foster care system. When asked how she hopes to make a difference, Ashley said, “I really just want these kids to feel connected and supported by the world around them and for them to know that family comes in many different shapes and sizes.”

A Glimpse Inside…

What is your favorite food?

  • Italian or Mexican

What do you love about Arizona/how long have you lived here?

  • I have lived here for 18 years now. I love that while its one of the largest metro areas in the country, it still feel like a smaller city in a lot of ways. And having it 75 and sunny here while my Wisconsin family is shoveling snow doesn’t hurt either!

What is on the top of your bucket list?

  • A trip to Australia

What is your favorite quote?

  • We make a living by what we do but we make a life by what we give. – Winston Churchill

Why do you volunteer with Foster Arizona?

  • There is something contagious about Kim’s energy and her passion for the kids in our community. That’s what started my story with Foster Arizona nearly 3 years ago. And I still to this day, can’t wrap my brain around how it would feel to not have a place to call “home”. Growing up, I came from a divorced then blended family and it wasn’t always easy, but at the end of the day I always had a “home” and people I knew loved and cared about me. There were moments in my life where I didn’t think I mattered, even with a supportive family so, to be able to show a kid in care that they matter to someone that they are not forgotten is why it’s personal to me.
