One Day of Impact

“I had girls at 3 different sites and they all came back extremely happy. They we’re inspired, felt valued, and were very much appreciative of the care and time that each site provided. This was such an excellent event. Many of my girls are now considering careers in the areas in which they visited.” –Group Home Leader

Sometimes it is easy to get lost in the work and details that make up an event but, then an email like this comes in reminding us that one day truly can impact a child’s life. Yesterday 61 kids participated in our Take a Child to Work Kid Connection Event over 11 sites. They got a behind the scene view of what goes on at businesses throughout the valley and connected with adults that gave up their day to let kids in foster care know how important they are to our community.

Kids got to have a hands on engineering experience at Orbital ATK, see what a day in the life of Gilbert Fire Department looks like, get their creative juices flowing by making high end floral designs at Petal Pushers, while others designed and produced original graphic art at Group Imaging. For those interested in animals, they saw the many jobs it takes to keep the Arizona Humane Society running and some experienced what being a Zookeeper at the Phoenix Zoo entails. AZCentral and Arizona Republic, Dave &Busters, Galvanize, Go Daddy, Sun Valley Community Church…each of them provided a unique experience that gave kids the chance to dream about what the future could bring. This day was possible because they made it possible and we are proud to live in a community with businesses that prioritize the next generation by giving of their time and resources.

If you have never joined us for one of these events, I want to personally invited you to come and get involved. These kids have changed my life and I am certain that they could change yours as well.
