First, let me say thank you for stepping up and bringing children into your home. Arizona needs more people willing to offer love and stability for the kids who are in out of home care, and you are making a huge difference day in and day out.

 

As for becoming licensed, I encourage people to get licensed because of the resources that it opens up for you and your family. Once you are licensed, you receive a monthly reimbursement to help with the cost of caring for a child. You also receive supports from your licensing agency as well as additional resources for your family such as family counseling, supports, etc.

 

There are times that it is easier to stay as a kinship placement as there are less restrictions and requirements. The best thing to do is to know your options so that you make an educated choice on what is best for you.
