Question: How do you choose kids to participate in your Meet the Kids videos?

For the past four and a half years, Foster Arizona has partnered with the Arizona Children’s Association to help kids tell their stories, and, in return, help them better connect with potential families. We believe that there is a family for every child and videos can play an important role in helping them find each other. The kids featured in our videos are under special recruitment efforts and each child has a youth advocate that works with the child to prepare them for adoption as well as work to locate families. The featured kids have special media releases allowing them to participate in things like videos where the majority of kids in foster care are not able to be photographed or filmed. Each child is selected and asked if they would like to participate in the video. To date, the videos have helped increase the number of kids placed with families to 52%, and have also helped numerous families take a step towards becoming foster or adoptive families. We know how challenging it can be for kids to have to market themselves to a family, so we do our best to ensure a high quality video, partner with amazing organizations around Arizona to create special experiences for the kids, and start off the day with a gift for them to enjoy and remember their experiences that day.
