Question: What does Foster Arizona do?

Part 4: Housing!

The last thing I ever would have thought we would do was housing. We try to stay connected to other organizations in foster care and work to educate on what is going on without duplicating. We believe that there is a lot of work to do and the best thing that organizations can do is work together to make the biggest impact for kids in foster care. About a year and a half ago, we discovered there was an overwhelming need for housing; specifically housing in the East Valley. We decided that we could step in to fill a gap and that is how the Foster Arizona Housing Project came to exist. The Housing Project launched in March 2018, providing housing for young adults transitioning out of foster care. Our goal with the launch was to create an opportunity to educate Arizonans about what is going on with this population (over 800 kids aging out each year) while empowering and encouraging them with tangible ways that they could positively impact the lives of youth transitioning out of foster care.

Three months later, with your help, we have been able to provide safe housing with support for 10 youth transitioning out of foster care. Over the next 5 years, we are working to provide 200 beds for young in need as they make the transition from foster care to adulthood.
